Here we go again the Republicans get another one wrong.

General McChrystal is asking for more troops for Afghanistan and The President is taking his time to look at all options, which as Commander in Chief must do. Right now the Republicans should be supporting him not condemning him. For what ever you think of Obama this time I believe he is doing the right thing. The Republicans did the same thing when Clinton was president for no matter what Clinton did right or wrong the Republicans condemned him. This cost the Republicans the respect and support of many Americans. I hear that the reason they are doing this again is because the Democrats did it to Bush and turn about is fair play. Sorry people but when it comes to what is best for this Country politics must be put aside. Also, how can you be considered serious when you follow the Democrats and act like little spoiled school children; the Democrats were wrong when they did it to Bush and the Republicans are wrong now. There are many important issues we can disagree with Obama and the Democrats on like Cap and Trade and Health Care and win the support of the American people, so let us not get petty and show the American people we learned our lesson and deserve their support.

An epitaph of this once great republic called America.

There once was a great republic that defended the rights of all of the depressed. It was called America. It started with FDR’s New Deal, and then slid further with Johnsons Great Society and now with Obama’s Socialism. It sometimes made mistakes but don’t we all. It could always be counted on to go to the aide of those in trouble. For over two hundred years it shed the blood of its young men and woman to protect the rights and freedoms of others. People all over the world risked their life to come and be part of the American Dream. They came on horse back, rafts, boats, planes and some even walled. America would send food for all the worlds poor but their flag was not allowed to be shown. So this food and medical supplies went with the flag of the United Nations (AKA as the Union to Destroy America). You know we did not want to offend anyone. But the poor and oppressed knew where it really came from. Soon there will be nowhere to go and no one to come to their aide and the poor and displaced of the world will cry. They will cry because there will be no one else willing to come to their aide for the only true shinning light is gone. But there is a light of hope for Americans are starting to wake up and standing up to be counted. Let us hope it is not too late.

Well I know everybody has been waiting for an update on my one man crusade to bring Congressman Etheridge back home.  So far I have protested outside of the Johnston County Court House, His office in Raleigh and today 10 June 10, 2009 at his Lillington office. At every stop I did have some people question me on what I was doing. I told them that the Congressman has been in Washington to long for one thing he voted on President Obama’s so called stimulus bill that he admitted he did not read then complained when he found out that AIG was getting such big bonuses.  But then became silent when he found out from Democrat Senator Chris Dodd said the Obama Administration asked for it to be included. Except for one instance everybody seemed to agree he should not have voted on the bill before he had a chance to read it.

 

Some asked bring him home from where or is he missing. So I would reply from Washington for he has been there so long that he has started to act like a San Francisco Liberal and since he is one of us that we need to save him by bringing him home before he turned completely to the dark side. That always got a laugh or chuckle. After all regardless of what party affiliation we are after all North Carolinians and we need to help each other. And right now he needs a lot of help.

 

At his Lillington office I surprised how many thumbs up I did receive. People even stopped their cars to ask me questions. When I arrived I went in and introduced myself and then thanked them for their hospitality when I left. I was very polite which I do not think they expected. Need to get more people to join me next time. His staff did come out to get the correct spelling of my name and ask who I represented, I told them right now just me, but I hope that soon it will be a lot more. That many people are upset by the way he is voting.

 

A few months back after about 40 years absents I re-joined the NRA. The reason I have become a member again is now more then ever I feel our 2nd amendment rights are a stake. Now that we have one of the most Liberal AKA Socialist Presidents in history the Socialist Democrats are running their mouths again about how bad guns are. Socialist Democrat California Senator Dianne Feinstein recently stated that she is waiting for the right time to introduce a new bill banning all privately owned firearms. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton repeated to Greta Van Susteren on Fox News a report that stated that 90% of the weapons seized from drug cartels in Mexico came from the United States, when in fact Fox News own reporters had already discredited that report. They found that only about 17% came from the U.S. and they were not the machine guns as stated. The facts were that most of the other weapons including all the machine guns came from Russia, South America and Asia. Greta just sat there and agreed with her. Now you know when a Fox News reporter just sits there and agrees with a statement they know is totally wrong we are in big trouble. The Socialist Democrats are setting the stage now to rape us of our right to defend ourselves. Also, there is talk right now in the United Nations on a treaty that will basically do the same thing if the Socialist Democrats can’t do it by legislation. Yes if we sign a treaty with the U.N. that has a section banning guns it nullifies the 2^nd amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Where do the rest of you stand? Do you stand up now or cry later.

 

I heard on the news today that the Christian Children’s Network is changing their name so as not to offend non Christians and also maybe they will be able to collect more money. Today I went our company bank (Wachovia) and all the large signs were in Spanish. I asked where the signs in English are and was directed to some pamphlets on the counter. When I stated that I thought this was still America the lady became flustered but up to that point she was friendly. It was like I had some nerve to question what the bank was doing. So now what is next? The American Red Cross uses as its symbol the cross which represents Christianity. So what do they change it to the Red Moon or the Red Triangle? We don’t want to offend anyone now do we? What about Judges they wear black robes I am sure that must offend somebody for you know black represents the Devil and witch craft. Can’t change it to white for white represents purity and you know that will definitely offend somebody. I got it, ski blue you know the shade of blue skies for everybody loves blue skies. Recently President Obama did not attend the National Day of Prayer for he did not want to offend non Christians. Socialist now call themselves Progressives, for that is the new Political Correct term and anarchist have hijacked the environmental movement and hide under the term environmentalists. Fascist now call themselves Socialist. Oh I forgot Hitler and Mussolini they were Socialist. My bad! 

I am sorry but I am fed up with this political correctness nonsense. Whether you like it or not this country was founded on Jewish/Christian beliefs by people who believed in one God, a small central government, individual responsibility, Capitalism and of cause religious tolerance. If you do not believe me just read the Constitution and read the founding fathers notes and essays and you will find it. But what I am finding out as I walk around today and talk to people is as long as you are a Liberal, Democrat, Socialist, or Communist you will be tolerated unless of cause you disagree with them, and then you are a hypocrite, turn coat or traitor. But then you never have to be tolerant if they are Christians, Jew, Republican or a Conservative.

 

I hear the Republican Party leadership is acting like Democrats again and therefore trying to loose another election. That’s right the Republican Party is trying to loose another election. Some of leadership of the GOP is going around the country trying to find out what the American people want. So next month when we the American people change our mind on what’s important will they start all over again with this tour just like the Democrats do? Now don’t get me wrong I think it is about time they got out and talked to the people, but instead of doing like the Democrats who change their stance on how they feel about an issue depending on what part of the country they are in, they should be telling the American people what their core values are and why they should trust Republicans again. You know things like individual responsibility, lower taxes, and smaller government, less government interference in our personal lives that everyone who is willing to work hard and becomes successful can do so with out being demonized for doing so. They can also tell the American people the truth (which I understand is hard for Politicians) that they made a mistake that when they were put in charge last time; they forgot why they were sent to Washington; that they became part of the problem not the solution. That they forgot their core values will not make that mistake again if they are allowed back in power. You see I believe the American people except for maybe the extreme Left and Right are looking for honesty not the same old nonsense. If you think I’ am wrong lets take someone the Republicans who lately like to compare themselves with, Ronald Reagan. This is funny for just a few years ago they did not want to be compared to him. For one thing he never apologized for his conservative values. He also spoke plainly and always let you know where he stood. Not like some Republicans and Democrats today who take polls to see how to answer questions and try to side step almost every issue.

 

The Republican Party in Johnston County North Carolina

            Saturday the 24^th of April at the Republicans 2^nd Congressional District Convention I was talking with Andrew Tyree the Chairman and Joy Paul the Treasure for the Johnston County GOP. (Just to be up front I was a delegate at that convention.) I asked them what the Republican Party in Johnston County was going to do to recruit new members. I explained that after the results of the last couple of elections and especially after this last election I felt the Republican Party needed to get back to its roots or we would continue to loose elections so what were their plans. I was surprised to find out that according to both of them Johnston County has seen a growth in the Republican Party over the last year and half. They explained that two years ago when they had their monthly meeting they would have just a hand full of people show up but over the last year it has been mostly standing room only. They explained that they realized with my schedule it is hard for me to make the meetings but I needed to come and see for my self not to take their word on it. I was also asked why I have become involved since I have written articles condemning both the Republicans and Democrats. I explained that before I gave up on the Republicans I should at lest try and help to bring the party back to its roots. So I say to all who have left the Republican Party and became Independents and anyone who believe that the government is too big, taxes to high and believe in a free market and individual responsibly, if you believe that the government should serve the people not the people serve the government, if you believe in a strong military and in the American Dream stop complaining and help us.

 

When President Obama was elected I decided to do what the liberals refused to do with President Bush and that is to give him a chance. After all I do believe we all do make mistakes and maybe I did with Obama. But I can’t any more for I just found out that the Department of Homeland Security Sec. Janet Napolitano (appointed by Obama) believes that I am a threat to our government. Needless to say I was in shock when I heard this. Me who served 20 years in our military and swore to protect this country form enemies both foreign and domestic. Just because I believe as Americans we have the right to protest when we feel the government is infringing on our rights, that if I am in favor of immigration enforcement, believe that the Second Amendment gives me the right to own a gun, feel that the government is too big and spend too much and on top of that I am a Veteran and a member of the American Legion. Oh and lets not forget I am a Christian. But if I am an Islamic Radical that wants to kill Americans I am just misunderstood. My God what has this country coming to? Wake UP AMERICA>

 

I read an article by John Deans of Greenpeace of North Carolina congratulating Congressman Etheridge 2^nd Congressional District North Carolina because he voted to keep important language in a bill addressing the so called Global Warming AKA as the Climate Change. Why have the Global Warming crowd changed the name from Global Warming to Climate Change I ask? Is it because more and more evidence has come out proving them wrong and many scientist and former supporters are now complaining that the studies used by the Global Warming crowd left out about 400 years of world history. The History Channel and the Discovery Channel have both aired documentaries called the “Little Ice Age-Big Chill” which documents how the earth has warmed and cooled over its history. All of this long before we had the big SUVs or coal burning power plants. It also explained how that Greenland when the Vikings first settled there was at one time was actually green.

It never stops amazing me how certain groups such as Greenpeace and other left wing groups always seem to leave out important facts when ever it suits them. Something else Mr. Deans left out was how much more it will cost us to heat our homes and fuel our vehicles if these policies are put into effect. Let us not forget that when the cost of fuel goes up so does the cost of our food. Why, because the cost of transportation and growing the food then increases. Just look at what happened to the price of corn and other food products when our government encouraged the Ethanol industry with large subsidies to use corn instead sugar to produce Ethanol, even though Brazil for over 20 years has proven sugar is more cost effective in producing Ethanol. Now do not get me wrong I believe we need to find other sources of energy and quickly but let us not destroy our economy in the process. I also believe we have a responsibility to protect our environment but again lets not loose sight of the fact that if the cost of fuel and food goes up it will effect the very people we are trying to protect and that is the poor and middle class. Let us not enact laws or regulations that will in the end do more harm then the good we are trying to accomplish. Again Mr. Etheridge voted against the little people and with the money.

 

For Mr. Leon Lucas of Kenly North Carolina and my Liberal Friends

            First of all I do not want to start a war of words but I do want to point out some facts. First of all I have investigated Mr. Etheridge and have no doubt that he is a fine gentleman and never did I say he wasn’t and also I have no doubt that he has done some good for the 2^nd Congressional district. But my question did not question if he was a good man or not it was very simple question, if major Democrats leaders were asking President Obama to veto this stimulus package so why should we believe him that it was a good thing for us. Now as more and more is being revealed and we are finding that these leading Democrats who were against this are now being proven correct in their concerns. A good example is the bonuses paid out to AIG, for we have now found out the Obama administration ask Democrat Senator Chris Dodd to insert this loop hole into the bill. Also what about the money that went to foreign banks? Is that another loop hole the administration asked for? As for Republicans not having answers; what about the last eight years when all the Democrats did was complain and blame everything from the common cold to the planes flying into the World Trade Center on Bush? Never once did I hear any solutions from them only complaining. When Bush on 13 different occasions during his eight years in office kept on asking Congress to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, leading Democrats like Congressman Barney Frank and Senator Harry Reid said there was nothing wrong with them and that the Bush administration was over reacting and just trying to hurt the poor. Now we have a crisis that could have been prevented except for the Democrats and yes the Republicans are as much at fault as the Democrats on this one for they lost their backbone. Also, when I criticized Senator Dole because I felt she was forgetting she was the Senator form North Carolina or when I questioned President Bush for not knowing how to spell VETO when it came to spending bills there was no out cry, but ask a Democrat a simple question and oh my God the Liberals go crazy. So sir you need to get your facts straight.

 

Boston Legal

            Just recently I started to watch this show on the ION channel called Boston Legal. Right now it is all reruns and I am trying to catch up on the background of the characters. The two I really like is Denny Craig played by William Shatner of Star Track Fame and his best friend Allen Shore played by James Spader. Now what is unique about the two of them is that Denny is a Republican and a staunch Conservative and Allen is a Democrat and a big Liberal as is most of the rest of the cast. What is really interesting is even though their politics are so different they are still the best of friends. You see I can relate to this because my best friend Roz is a liberal and we do have some interesting conversation and we still remain friends. The first time I turned on Boston Legal I was a little up set because of the way they portray Republicans, you know the stereo type extreme right wing wacko’s but Democrats as down to earth, understanding and compassionate. Then I said Dave what do you expect it’s Hollywood and they will always portray us as wacko’s distort our positions and of cause just about every subject dealing with show ends up being Bush’s fault. So I decided to watch another episode and found that once I was able to get past the left wing bias I found the show extremely entertaining after all it is only a comedy. Of cause they say drama but we will have to disagree on that.

 

Dad Can You Start Praying to be Rich Again.

            That was the phone call I received a few weeks ago from my daughter Jill. I laughed and asked why. She said that she and Matt (her Husband) were trying to have a baby and so far have had no luck and if I prayed to be rich maybe it would help. There is a story behind that statement; you see I tell a story to my grandchildren, that when ever I prayed to be rich I would end up with another grandchild. You see it goes back to when I had to close my business and I was really depressed for I thought that I had lost everything and was beginning to think that I was a failure for it is hard starting over again in your mid 50s. Yes I was feeling sorry for myself. So this is how the story goes: You see every time I asked to be rich my son (who was married at the time) had another child which meant I had another grandchild. First came Brittanee, then Dominique, I tell them that I would say God no I need to be rich, but then came Jordan and then Dylan and last came Mckayla. My son is now a single father of five and about this time he was also out of work and him and all five of my grand kids were living with me and I was wondering how we were going to put food on the table and pay our bills. So one night I was really depressed and lying on my bed and talking to God well really complaining and said God I really don’t think you understand what I have been asking for I want to be rich. Then I felt like someone was trying to tell me some thing but I did not understand. About that time as if on cue my youngest granddaughter came into my bedroom and climbed into bed with me and gave me a big hug and kisses and said grandpa I love you. It was at that moment that I realized that it was God trying to tell me I was rich. Richer far beyond my wildest dreams no not with money but with love. She looked up and asked grandpa are you crying, I said no I just got something in my eye and gave her a big hug back and said I love you to. Now when ever I get depressed my grandchildren seem to know without being told that I need that hug and those words grandpa I love you. So as it turned out God did answer my prayers but just not in the way I expected but then he does have a habit of doing that don’t he. Oh and yes I am asking to be rich again so maybe he will bless my daughter with that child she wants and me again with another grandchild. For as we all know you can never be rich enough.

     First of all let me explain that I am not a smoker, but I do feel that things are getting way out of hand, not only for smokers but everything else also. The State of North Carolina is talking about preventing smoking in both public and commercial buildings, give me a break. What happened to individual responsibility? Now I do understand that in some instances we need to separate sections for smokers in restaurants, for I do not want to inhale smoke from someone else and I do believe we need smoking area’s in public or government buildings also. What has the government done in the last 50 years that it has not screwed up?  My question is; are we becoming a nation of idiots that we need the government to tell us what is good or bad? What happened to individual responsibility? Are we afraid to take responsibility for our own actions? For it seems to me that we are turning more and more control of our lives to the government as if it knows better! Heck I wonder how some of these politicians get elected for half the time you can’t even get a straight answer from them or they ramble on incoherently as if they have had no education and we want them to tell us what is best for us? Sorry not me. Now I realize I am not the smartest guy on the block but if this goes through what will the Government tax and or regulate next? How many miles we drive; oh that’s right they are all ready talking doing about that. Now I do understand the health cost concerns many have dealing with smokers and this goes with any other high risk activity. What I say to that is charge them a higher premium for insurance (oh they all ready do this) and a higher deductable. Then there is something called education. Show the future generation you know the children the health hazards of smoking in school in that class called Science or maybe Biology. We teach that phony religion called Global Warming in school so why not the hazards of smoking, for at lest that is real and would actually benefit them.

 

I listen to a lot of talk radio and read a lot of conservative articles and believe many of these conservatives who I respect got it wrong, for Obama knows exactly what he is doing. Obama knows this stimulus package will fail and that exactly is his plan. Think about it for a moment, when this plan fails as it will he will come back and say he was afraid this would happen. For he really knew that he needed more control and that if we do not give it to him things will get even worst. He will also eliminate his competition which he has all ready started to do. Hillary Clinton for example would have been a problem for him if she remained in the Senate, but now that she is part of his administration she has been neutralized. What surprised me is that the Clintons are not dumb but they fell for his ploy. I give her two years before he gives her the boot, claiming she was the reason that his foreign policy failed. She will leave disgraced and most of political clout gone. Next to go will be Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, for they and especially Nancy Pelosi who have become to powerful and so once the stimulus package fails he will blame it on them, after all they wrote it. Other leaders (Dictators) did the same thing just take a look at Hitler, Stalin, Castro, and Chavez who all did the same thing. All of these leaders spoke with elegance except for maybe Stalin and were able to sway the population that they would solve all their problems. There was always an enemy sometimes even an imaginary one you know the Evil Rich or the BIG Corporations who just happen to be the ones who supply the real jobs. These leaders eliminated all opposition even those who initially supported them because they knew that once they realized what their real agenda was they would turn against them. I hope I am wrong but either way I just hope the American people wake up before it is too late.

  Can you believe this?

            I was asking one of my nieces to support the Fair Tax and join the Fair Tax Nation. She wrote back and asked what the Fair Tax was so I gave her a simple explanation like you get to keep you whole pay check and no longer pay income taxes and referred her to their web site www.fairtax.org and my blog idspeck@blogtownhall.com. Well she wrote back and said she was not sure if she liked that because she liked getting that refund check back every year. Trouble is she does not get a refund because she does not pay enough into the system to get a refund. She like many families get that so called Earned Income Credit, which is not really earned income from them but money that the government takes from other tax payers and then gives it away to them. So I went to my copy of the Fair Tax Book and looked up what a family of 4 would be getting with the monthly Pre-bate check. It’s about $491.82 a month. Well it looks like to me that her family would be getting a little less form the pre-bate check then she is now getting from the Earn Income Credit. The biggest difference would be she would receive a little every month instead of a lump sum at the end of the year. Then it dawned on me that is not all she would get but since she is no longer paying income tax you will have to add that savings into the equation. Also, since her and her husband’s employer will no longer have to pay the pay roll tax they might even get a pay raise, so now it looks like to me she is actually getting more. Any one who has studied the Fair Tax knows it does a lot more. Now I do not claim to be an expert on this but from what I see if this is all the Fair Tax does it would still be a good idea.
